Passwords to go...
What's easier than carrying around a USB flash drive with your password manager on it? How about carrying nothing at all, and accessing your passwords from any computer with a browser, anywhere?
You have to buy into the idea that you can safely store your passwords on a remote server, but when I understood that your passwords are always encrypted when they are sent over the wire, and stored in encrypted form on the server, I concluded this is a safe approach.
One could be concerned that network outages might prevent access to your passwords, but I have three responses:
- There is an offline program for use in this eventuality
- They give you the ability to print out all of your password entries, so you can keep a printed version in a safe place.
- Most of my passwords are for online use, so not having access to them when the network is down is not a significant limitation for me (although, I suppose, it could be that only the Passpack server is down.)
What do you think?PassPack website down - it happens.
